History & Mission

In May 2019, a meeting was held between interested Jackson County citizens and Vern Hendricks of GMCF. Vern explained to those present how a community foundation could benefit Jackson County and how the GMCF has made a difference to the Manhattan community.

A decision to form a community foundation for our region for the purpose of doing good works was made at this time and people were asked to serve on the board. The first decision made by the Board of Directors was to become an affiliate with the Greater Manhattan Community Foundation.

Officers were elected and meeting dates were set. The Jackson County Community Foundation was formally founded as an affiliate of GMCF in the Summer of 2019.

The ten board members meet monthly.
